How sweet it is to turn 6! Although it feels like an anniversary more so than a birthday because we love what we do. A little factoid: traditional wedding anniversary gifts for the 6-year milestone is candy or iron. Despite the fact that chewing on either isn't great for your teeth, our dentist and dental lab clients will tell you that they got some pretty sweet designs over this past year.

Being born in 2008, our skills were forged in the fire of a tumultuous economy. Despite this, we've had the amazing opportunity to create a plethora of designs and branding this past year for a wide range of clientele ranging from dynamic small businesses, to the 4th largest bank in Florida to multi-state franchises and national companies ranging from a lifestyle nutrition company, to a delicious crunchy food product.

It is astounding how many people do not protect their company name by registering it with the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). I have heard a couple of client nightmare stories where they have, after years of developing a brand (spending thousands of dollars), been told that they can no longer use their company name for one reason or another.

First off, let me say that I am not an attorney, and this is not to be construed as legal advice. If you need an intellectual property attorney - get one, or feel free to contact me for a referral for an intellectual property attorney.

Google Chocolate for Ad Agencies

Google has surprised us once again! This week we received the Google partners engage calendar for ad agencies with dates of the live stream events. Under each date a tasty chocolate with the Google initial. Certainly a smart way to subconsciously connect the pleasures of having a chocolate and being part of the events.

In a brave and possibly foolish move, the execs at YouSendIt deceided to rename their company to "Hightail."  While they want to add additional services and not be pigeon-holed into being a "one trick pony," was it worthwhile? You can see their media blog release here.

Personally, I am from the school of thought: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."  Most people know what YouSendIt is and what it does. Even if you have never heard of it, it's not rocket science to figure out the service they provide. As the CEO of a design studio, one would think that I should be for re-brandings. However, why destroy a well-known brand?  Why not look into alternatives, or perhaps a byline-style branding "YouSendIt - a Hightail Company?"

Been thinking about sending e-blast newsletters? Constant Contact offers a 30 day trial, and because we are business partners, we have a 30% off promo code for your first 3 months.

We are excited to be rolling out a brand new online system that allows the high school and college faculty to collaborate on student development through curriculum improvement. Specifically, we are designing a Content Management System (CMS) website for the school to address any "gaps" between the high school and college curricula in the areas of Biology and Chemistry.

We will keep you posted once this website is published, although the actual collaboration functionality will be limited to Palm Beach County Educational faculty.

It's amazing and inspirational how people on all corners of the Earth - no matter how the odds may seem to be stacked against them - can still find enjoyment in the arts!

Ahh yes, it's that special time of year when we get to express our affinity for the franchise created by billionaire philanthropist George Lucas. For anyone living under a rock this past year, Lucas sold the franchise to Disney for an obscene amount of money and decided to donate ALL of it to educational charities - Wow, and you thought Zuckerburg was a saint for only taking a dollar for his 2013 salary and bonuses for flying the Millennium Facebook!

Well Mr. L, we salute you and hope that Disney takes the reins and does what everyone expects: makes an awesome amusement park so we can finally fly in spaceships! Thank you for being one of the strongest creative forces that our generation has ever known. You are definitely amongst the stars in our book, and we are sure we're not alone! May the Fourth be with you!

Come join us this Earth Day (Monday, April 22nd, at 1pm) for our ribbon cutting at the Milagro Center (695 Auburn Ave., Delray Beach, FL 33444). Refreshments will be served, and you can have a chance to learn about one of our favorite clients: The Milagro Center. The Central Palm Beach County Chamber of Commerce will be doing the ribbon cutting at 1pm, and afterwards our team from GGS will stay behind to teach the kids about Earth Day and the environment, and provide coloring activities.

Prior to the ribbon cutting, Assurance Power Systems (another GGS client) has generously offered to help out by donating and installing mulch on the Center's playground. This Earth Day beautification, education, and ribbon cutting has something for everyone!

Help us give back this Earth Day. Check out for details on how you can help us change the world.
