Happy National Recycle Day!

At GGS, Green is more than a color or a gimmick – it’s our mantra. So naturally, we would like to climb the nearest mountaintop and shout “Today Is National Recycle Day!”

But since we are based in Florida and it is seemingly flat here, we leave you with this blog post.

Today, the U.S. recycles about 20% of its glass, 40% of its paper, 50% of its aluminum and 60% of its steel. Recycling and remanufacturing waste material produce substantially more jobs than landfilling or incinerating the same material — usually at a lower cost to local government and residential and business ratepayers. In fact, recycling results in up to 36 times more jobs than landfilling. Now I’d say that’s a win-win for recycling.

Now, we all know that recycling is an excellent way of saving energy and conserving the environment, but did you know:

•  1 recycled tin can would save enough energy to power a television for 3 hours.

•  1 recycled glass bottle would save enough energy to power a computer for 25 minutes.

•  1 recycled plastic bottle would save enough energy to power a 60-watt light bulb for 3 hours.

•  70% less energy is required to recycle paper compared with making it from raw materials.

Pretty interesting stuff.

Green Group Studio encourages all of our readers to remember to reduce, reuse and recycle.

We would like to wish all of you a Happy National Recycle Day and a Happy Friday.
